Evening Excursion
Meet at the Heritage Trail car park signposted off the
B5111 on the mountain. Members of the Friends of Amlwch Industrial Heritage
Trust will be there to guide us, in groups of about 20, along the recently
established trail. The walk, which takes about 1½ hours, will be on good
paths, nevertheless stout footwear is recommended. Following the excursion
to Amlwch Port in 1999 this evening will provide an update on the progress
made by the Trust.
To ensure an adequate number of guides please advise
the organiser of your intention to attend by Monday, 19 May.

Saturday 7 June 2003 - Full Day Excursion
Pistyll, Tre’r Ceiri and Nant Gwrtheyrn
This will be our third visit to the Llyn Peninsula in
recent years –an area rich in historical monuments and sites. We start at Pistyll
Church, a secluded rural church off the B4417 road, where a local historian
will tell us about the history of the church and locality. We will then
circumnavigate, on foot, the National Trust land nearby visiting the relics
of several sites of archaeological interest and seeing some excellent views
of the coast. After a picnic stop the coach will take us to another path to
walk across open land and then up to the iron age hillfort of Tre’r Ceiri
where CADW have recently carried out some restoration work. Following our
descent from there the coach will take us to Nant Gwrtheyrn Language Centre
to see the new Visitor Centre and have a meal at “Caffi Meinir, the
Centre’s restaurant.
The first part of the walk is on field paths, which
can be soggy in places, having a couple of fairly easy climbs. The route to
Tre’r Ceiri is a more defined path, the final part quite steep. Total
walking time will be about 5½ hours. Stout
walking shoes and waterproof clothing are recommended and – most
important – a picnic for the mid-day stop.
The coach will pick-up at Llangefni Library,
Llanfairpwll Post Office and Coed Cyrnol, Menai Bridge. After the meal at
"Caffi Meinir" we should be back in Llangefni by 8.30pm.
The cost for the day will be £20 per person. As usual
numbers are restricted to 50 -
first come .....
