Saturday, 13 May, 2000 - HALF DAY EXCURSION
Garreglwyd and Porth Swtan |

Meet at 2pm. at Garreglwyd. Turn
into the village of Llanfaethlu from the A5025 coast road, and
A.A.S. signs will guide us westwards for half a mile to the entrance
gate for Garreglwyd on the right - parking will be available
near the house. We shall have the opportunity to view the house
in the company of Mr. Tom Carpenter in smaller groups, and to
roam in the garden. Afterwards Mr. S. Rhydwen-Jones will speak
about Porth Swtan, and directions will be given before we drive
on to Church Bay. On arrival, we shall divide again into smaller
groups to visit Porth Swtan and/or purchase refreshment locally.
A small charge will be collected at Garreglwyd.

Saturday, 10 June, 2000 - FULL DAY EXCURSION
Pen y Gaer and Llanaelhaearn |

Frances Llewellyn has again very
kindly agreed to lead this year's walk in the hill area to the
east of Llanaelhaearn. There is one climb only - at the early
part of the walk, before lunch - to the hill fort of Pen y Gaer
at map ref: 428455. We will be taken by coach to our start at
a farm called Tyddyn Mawr (ref: 430447).
The walk is between 5 and 6 miles,
including the gradual climb to Pen y Gaer. The finishing point
will be Llanaelaearn where we will visit the church. Along the
route may be seen some fine examples of enclosed hut-groups,
field systems, pillow mounds and a more recent but disused water-mill
complex. If the weather is kind, we will enjoy superb views of
the Llyn Peninsula and Cardigan Bay.
Good walking boots or stout shoes
will be needed, and overclothes to suite the weather of the day!
A two course meal has been arranged at the Coach Inn, Clynnog
Fawr for 6.00 pm. and we should be back in Llangefni by about
8.00 pm.
The total cost for the day will
be £15. Bookings must be limited to the first 50 applications
received. The coach will pick up at Llangefni (8.30 am.), Llanfairpwll
Post Office (8.50), Menai Bridge, Coed Cyrnol (9.00) and Caernarfon
(9.15). Please remember to bring a packed lunch for the mid-day
stop.

Wednesday, 5 July, 2000 - HALF DAY EXCURSION
Newborough - Pritchard Jones Institute and Excavations at Rhosyr |

Councillor Gwyn Jones will give
talk on Pritchard-Jones, the Institute and Library. Later, we
shall enjoy a video and talk by Mr. David Longley on the nearby
Rhosyr excavations, followed visit to the site.
Meet at the Pritchard-Jones Institute
at 2 pm., (A4080 by the Post Office) turn right if coming from
Brynsiencyn, or left if driving from Malltraeth, and the Institute
is 100m. on left. Parking along the road outside.

Saturday, 22 July, 2000 - FULL DAY EXCURSION
Porthmadog, Penrhyndeudraeth and Criccieth |

One coach, with feeder coach
from Amlwch to Menai Bridge. Thence to the Glaslyn Leisure Centre,
Porthmadog, to meet Paul Williams, Warden of the Gwaith Powdwr
site at Penrhyndeudraeth to hear about its conversion into a
nature reserve under the North Wales Wildlife Trust. Buffet lunch
at the Centre, followed by afternoon visit to Gwaith Powdwr,
guided by Paul Williams. Then by coach to Criccieth where members
will be free to visit the excellent exhibition at the Castle,
or to wander through the town and along the sea front at will.
Evening meal at the George IV Hotel, Criccieth.
Cost £22.50 which includes
coach fare, talk, visit to Gwaith Powdwr, and the two meals.
Members to pay their own admission to the Castle.

Thursday - Sunday, 14 - 17 September,
2000 - FOUR DAY ANNUAL EXCURSION

Book early to secure a place a place on
this study of one of Britain's Victorian manufacturing towns
once famous for textiles and heavy industry. Two coaches will
pick up at the usual points on Anglesey before joining at Menai
Bridge. The larger coach (48 seats) will go on from there at
9.00 am. Accommodation has been booked at a premier hotel, the
Last Drop Village, on the northern perimiter overlooking the
town.
The full programme will concentrate on
relics of Medieval Bolton, the Civil War, Samuel Crompton and
the early textile machines at the Helmshore Museum and elsewhere.
There will be two evening events at the hotel, a lecture on 'Williams
Lever' and a documentary video about the town. There will also
be time for a close look at the town centre shops and historical
sites. All meals are included in the cost 0f £196 per person,
with the exception of Friday's luncheon. There may be an optional
theatre trip arranged for one evening.
The coach will return to Menai Bridge by
5.15 on Sunday. There will be no single person supplements. Further
details and a brochure will be sent out when applications are
received.
